The immensely popular boxer – and the first-ever to win titles in eight different weight classes – opposed the President’s views on same-sex homosexual marriage in a recent interview. Speaking with the National Conservative Examiner and asked about Obama’s stance, Pacquiao was quoted as saying that “God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other.” “God’s words first… obey God’s law first before considering the laws of man,” he told the Examiner. “It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of Old.” Manny Pacquiao proves he is a honorable Bible believing man and not a supporter for the filthy, vile lifestyles of homosexuals.

MIAMI — The Miami Heat say Chris Bosh will be sidelined indefinitely because of a strained abdominal muscle. An MRI exam performed Monday confirmed the diagnosis. Bosh was hurt late in the first half of the Heat’s 95-86 victory over Indiana on Sunday in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Game 2 of the series is Tuesday night. Bosh’s minutes will likely be filled by Joel Anthony and Ronny Turiaf, both of whom played extended stretches Sunday after Bosh departed.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The New York Giants have agreed to terms with running back David Wilson. A source confirmed the Giants’ first-round pick out of Virginia Tech agreed to his rookie deal, which was first reported by ProFootballTalk.com. The Giants have now reportedly agreed to terms with five of their seven draft picks, including cornerback Jayron Hosley, tight end Adrien Robinson and offensive linemen Brandon Mosley and Matt McCants. Wilson was drafted with the final pick in the first round by the Giants, who need somebody to replace Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs was released during the offseason and signed with the 49ers. Wilson will compete with D.J. Ware, Da’Rel Scott and Andre Brown to back up Ahmad Bradshaw. The Giants will get their first extended look at Wilson during this weekend’s rookie camp. “We’re looking at the fact that Brandon is no longer here and we do have to try to balance that out,” head coach Tom Coughlin said shortly after the team drafted Wilson in April. “We believe that you do have to have multiple runners or at least two that can effectively take the field at any time, and this young man we thought was one of those that can be a big-play threat.”

Former Redskins quarterback John Beck has agreed to terms on a deal with the Houston Texans, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed. The Houston Chronicle first reported the news Wednesday evening. Beck spent the last two seasons with the Redskins before being released by the team on April 28th. The Redskins released Beck after drafting Kirk Cousins in the fourth round of the draft. Cousins and Grossman are competing for backup duties behind Robert Griffin III, whom Washington drafted with the second overall pick of the draft. Beck made three starts for Washington last season, losing all three. He competed for the starting job in training camp, but lost the competition to Rex Grossman. Rex Grossman was benched after a four-interception performance in Week 5 against Philadelphia. But Beck and the Redskins offense struggled mightily, and Grossman then reclaimed his job.

The next phase of the appeal by the Cowboys and Washington Redskins, who were stripped of $36 million for the same violation, occurs today when they face a special arbitrator to determine if the grievance should proceed. The NFL has filed a motion to dismiss the case, saying that it doesn’t belong under the jurisdiction of Special Master Stephen Burbank because the NFL Players Association agreed to the sanctions. If the appeal is allowed to go forward, it will be heard at a different time so the case is far from coming to a resolution. “We have an opportunity to present it to a mediator,” Jones said Wednesday during the team’s annual golf tournament at Cowboys Golf Club. “That will not resolve the issue.” The contract at issue for the Cowboys is the six-year, $54 million extension the team gave receiver Miles Austin that included an unprecedented $17 million base salary when it began in 2011. The team thinks it has a good case largely because the NFL management council originally approved the contracts in 2010. Outside linebacker Kyle Wilber is going to miss the three weeks of organized team activities (OTAs) while he recovers from a broken finger and could be out until training camp starts in July. The Cowboys hope he can be available for some of the mandatory minicamp in June. Wilber, the Cowboys’ fourth-round draft pick from Wake Forest, suffered the injury during the rookie minicamp last week at Valley Ranch. The fracture was repaired Tuesday. The first of three OTA sessions begins May 22 and goes three days. The next one is scheduled for May 29-31, with the third to follow June 4-7. A three-day mandatory minicamp is scheduled for June 12-14. Training camp is expected to begin around July 25. Jerry Jones said Wednesday that third-round pick Tyrone Crawford, a defensive end from Boise State, has a heart murmur. “The heart murmur issue is one that I’m satisfied is OK for us,” Jones said. Jones did not indicate when the murmur was discovered. A heart murmur is an extra or unusual sound heard during a heartbeat, according to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. Most murmurs are harmless. Murmurs can also indicate a change in structure or damage in the heart, and require more examination. First-round pick Morris Claiborne of LSU had the pins removed from his left wrist Wednesday, but he won’t participate in the OTA sessions or the mandatory minicamp in June. The Cowboys have planned all along for him to be ready for the start of training camp.

Atlanta Hawks co-owner Michael Gearon Jr. was a guest speaker Wednesday at an event sponsored by the W.E.B. Du Bois Society, but he reserved some choice words for Boston Celtics center Kevin Garnett. “We don’t get any calls, which I know everybody always hears,” Gearon said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “But I’ll give you a stat. Last night, we are playing this old physical team. They are old. I know what happens when you play basketball, old guys foul. [Kevin] Garnett is the dirtiest guy in the league. We are playing Boston last night and they had two fouls the whole first half. We had five times that and we’re athletic.” In his comments at the luncheon, Gearon also complimented Hawks players Al Horford and Josh Smith for battling through injuries to make valuable on-court contributions. “Did you see what Al Horford did (in Tuesday’s Game 5)?” he said. “The timeline for recovery for his injury is another three months. He’s not even supposed to be playing and Josh should not be playing. Zaza (Pachulia) can’t stand up, but if we can get past this round there is a chance that we can get him back. So this is a team that is overcoming adversity. I wish … some of the national media or even some of the local media, more the paper than the TV guys, recognize how hard these guys are playing based on how injured they are.” The Celtics lead the Hawks 3-2 in an Eastern Conference quarterfinal playoff series. Game 6 is Thursday at 8 p.m. ET in Boston.

Stacy Robinson, a wide receiver on the New York Giants’ first two Super Bowl-winning teams, died yesterday at the age of 50. Robinson, who worked for the National Football League Players Association following his playing career, was diagnosed in 2009 with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood. He entered hospice care on May 3, his family said in a statement. “He was a good man who was loved and respected by his teammates and everyone in this organization,” Giants co-owner John Mara said in an e-mailed statement. His work on behalf of the Players Association was of great benefit to many players. He will be missed.” Robinson most recently was the NFLPA’s director of player services & development, a position in which he helped players prepare for life in and after professional football. Robinson was taken by the Giants in the second round of the 1985 NFL draft out of North Dakota State and spent his entire six-year career with the organization. He appeared in 43 games with the Giants, catching 48 passes for 749 yards and seven touchdowns. When the Giants won their first Super Bowl title after the 1986 season, Robinson caught three passes for a team-high 62 yards in the 39-20 championship- game win over the Denver Broncos.

New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma is appealing his season-long suspension from the NFL, and three other players also are appealing their penalties. Vilma was made the scapegoat of the whole bounty drama. Packers defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove, Saints defensive end Will Smith and Browns linebacker Scott Fujita joined Vilma in officially filing their appeals Monday. The NFL announced in a May 2 news release that its investigation concluded that Vilma assisted former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams in establishing and funding the bounty program. The investigation also cited “multiple independent sources” who confirmed that Vilma offered specific cash bounties for any player who knocked Kurt Warner or Brett Favre out of their respective playoff games during the Saints’ Super Bowl run after the 2009 season. Per the labor agreement between the NFL and the players’ association, Vilma’s appeal will go directly to commissioner Roger Goodell. If the suspension is upheld, Vilma will not be eligible to be reinstated until after the Super Bowl in 2013. In his eight-year career, Vilma has amassed 833 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 11 interceptions and 11 forced fumbles. Of the other three players who were penalized, Smith is the only one still with the Saints. He was suspended for the first four games of the 2012 regular season after the NFL’s investigation concluded that he assisted former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams in establishing and funding the team’s bounty program during his time as a captain. He had 35 tackles and 6.5 sacks for the Saints in 14 games in 2011. Fujita, who signed with Cleveland following the Saints’ Super Bowl victory in 2010, was suspended for three games after the investigation found that he’d pledged “large cash rewards” for plays during which opposing players were injured. In 10 games for the Browns last season, Fujita made 50 tackles and intercepted a pass. Hargrove, who signed with the Packers this spring after playing for the Seahawks in 2011, was suspended eight games. In its May 2 statement, the NFL reported that Hargrove had been untruthful to investigators about the bounty program, but submitted a signed declaration to the league that established both the existence of the program and his participation in it. In 15 games for the Seahawks last year, Hargrove had 18 tackles and three sacks. Monday was the deadline for the suspended players to file their appeals with the league.
